EDU499 Integrating Social Studies and Technology
Prepares secondary social studies teachers to enhance students’ learning opportunities with technology tools, while furthering their understanding of the potential affordances and constraints technology poses for cross-cultural learning, teaching, democratic discourse, and social action. Places teaching candidates in experiential contexts working directly with adolescent learners on projects that involve the generation and dissemination of public knowledge through technology, focusing in turn on how and why teachers might use technology tools to empower learners as active citizens of a global society. (Meets content-pedagogy requirement for professional teaching certification).
